Jackson, ONYX Women; academia: Audrey Murrell; Ph.D, University of Pittsburgh; government: Constance Portis, Department of the Auditor General; law enforcement: Diane Richard, Pittsburgh Bureau of Police; and business advocate: Doris Carson Williams, African American Chamber of Commerce.

Other honorees included Mary Anne Barnes, Barnes and Associates, entrepreneur; Cmdr. Donna Best, Allegheny County Sheriff's Office, Law Enforcement; Yvonne Campos, Campos, Inc., business owner;, Norma Caquatto, Esq., Law; the Hon. Christine Donahue, Superior Court of Pennsylvania, judicial; Suzi K. Donley, women's health advocate; Maggie Forbes, executive director, Carnegie Free Library-non-profit; Mary Hines, Ph.D, president, Carlow University, education administration; Kathleen Hower, executive director, Global Links, international health; Karen Myers, women's advocacy; Molly Rush, peace and justice, Selena Schmidt, chief of staff to City Councilman Doug Shields, city government; Hon. Jacqueline Shogan, Superior Court of Pennsylvania, judicial; and Hon. Chelsa Wagner, Pennsylvania House of Representatives, government.

Spreading awareness of SIDS (sudden infant death syndrome), providing cribs for infants and educating parents about practicing safe sleep for their babies, Cribs for Kids was founded by [Stephen A. Zappala Jr.], SIDS of PA Executive director Judith Bannon, the late Mayor Bob O'Connor and Cmdr. Gwen Elliott. Within its 11 years, the program has grown to 236 partners in 39 states. Since the beginning of the campaign that recommends infants sleep on their backs-the "Back to Sleep" campaign-the incidence of SIDS has been reduced by 50 percent.
