Diary of a Rising Hoop Star; Going Home Offers Chance to Reflect On Challenges

Summary

I think our whole team needed a chance to get away from the tiresome student-athlete schedule that requires all of our time and dedication at least six days a week. Even if it is just for two days, it's a great feeling to breathe "natural" air, to really fell a warmth under my covers at night (a feeling not possible in a dorm bed), to feel "true love" from those family members around me who thrive off of my success, and to eat food that is not processed. Ultimately, it's a chance to spend time with my family and get away from the stresses of college and basketball life.

Now, being a Bronco this week wasn't half bad. We united as a team rather quickly in a weeks span without the league's leading scorer, Casey Rost, to win two competitive and hard fought games over Central Michigan, 67-55, and Toledo, 62-61. We ended our regular season with these wins and made the last home game for our lone senior, Lori Crisman, one to remember. I would have to say that as this next week approaches and the stage is set for the MAC tournament in Cleveland, our team is feeling better than ever despite the many challenges we have faced throughout this year.
