Disappointing Anointment

Summary

In an infinite moment of "wisdom" or "brain lock" you make the choice, [Barry Bonds] decided not to participate in the homerun derby because as he put it, "he had nothing to prove." No Barry, I disrespectfully disagree. You had and still have a lot to prove.

Bonds even uttered some other ill-advised quotes that may be just the ammunition needed for the next attack by the Barry Bonds Vilification Society (or the BBVS for short). If there is not a chapter in your area, contact them on how to become a member. Barry even anointed his successor before he ascends to the throne. When asked about a recent conversation that he had with Alex Rodriguez a.k.a. A-Rod about the MLB homerun record Bonds said; "I told Alex: Toull beat it and when you do, you don't have to worry about calling me. If you want me, I'll be there. Ill be there in a heartbeat. Bonds said this for the entire world to hear. When he was asked why he chose A-Rod he continued on by saying; "His eye-hand coordination, his actual strength, his actual recognition of the ball. Those are the things that you can't teach."

Even Alex Rodriguez conceded that this was a time that should have been reserved for Barry Bonds. When informed about Bonds comments, the New York Yankees superstar said: "It's humbling, but this is not my time right now, its Barry's time. It's Hank Aaron's time. It's major league baseballs time to enjoy this feat he's about to accomplish. I'd rather stay out of the way. I feel kind of shy talking about it. Being 250-300 homers away, I think it's kind of ridiculous. I love Barry," Rodriguez said, "and I wish people would really enjoy his talents and not dwell on all the other [stuff]. He's a unique and talented guy."
