Lady Bulldogs Upset Schenley, Sprint Toward Back-to-Back-to-Back City Titles

Summary


High on Westinghouse's agenda was to keep tabs on All-American Schenley guard Markel Walker. Walker, sister of former Pitt standout Marcedes Walker, is rated the No. 4 high school player in the country on the ESPNU list of the top 100 girls basketball players in the country. She's ranked right now as one of "America's Top Amateurs" and has made a verbal commitment to play college basketball at UCLA.

"They didn't do anything special to stop me," said Walker of the Lady Bulldogs defense. "The last time we played I scored a lot. This time my goal was to get my teammates involved and take the game over in the fourth quarter. I made a dumb foul at the end. I never should have reached in. We're looking forward to playing them again."

"Shay-Shay" loves to play the game," said Angie Russell, assistant basketball coach at Cleveland State and former star player at Eastern Illinois University. "She is such a great athletic and plays hard on both ends of the court."
