Summary

2008: The Steelers selected running back Rashard Mendenhall. Got robbed before the season started, ran mouth to his boy, Baltimore Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis who heard all of the braggadocio, met "Sir Rashard" shoulder to shoulder at the line of scrimmage instead of the alley, crack, crack, Mendenhall out for the season. The Black and Gold's second selection, wide receiver Limas S weed, is a big, tall rangy wideout who was supposed to be cut in the mold of [Plaxico Burress] "I shot the sheriff' Burress. Is it my imagination or did Mr. Sweed hang out on the sidelines for most of the season?

2003: I believe this was the year that the seeds for the Steelers 2008 number one defense were planted. Pittsburgh traded up to get safety Troy Polamalu in the first round, who has turned into the most laid back Pro-Bowl, lunatic that I have ever seen. In round 2 they gambled on linebacker Alonzo "Gonzo" Jackson who is now nowhere to be seen. With no third round choice available they snatched Ivan "Ike" Taylor in the fourth round. If you don't believe that Ike Taylor has become "Ivan the Terrible" to the NFL's wide receiving corps, get the leagues wideouts on a conference call. You will not have enough lines available.

2001: Nose tackle Casey Hampton was gobbled up in the first round. Okay, okay I know the word gobbled may be one of "Big Hamp's'" favorite verbs but hey don't shoot me, I'm just the piano player. The number two selection, linebacker Kendrell Bell, played swell for a few years, got paid and faded into the free agent sunset.
