Racial profiling is one of the many ways that profiles are used in our economy. Businesses, governments and even nonprofit charitable organizations use profiling to identify the most effective methods to reach their targeted populations. There are consumer profiles, shopper's profiles, sports fan profiles, gambler profiles, offender profiles, etc. With the advent of computer social networking, we now have Facebook, MySpace, LinkedIn and several other online profiles.
The suggestions made below, to help manage your profile, are not "bullet proof," however, they may produce results that are more positive and help to reduce the aggravation of unwanted solicitations. I tell my son that if, "four young Black men are riding in a car, slumped in their seats, wearing hoodies, they have significantly increased their chances of being stopped by the police," based on their profile.
