'Sisters' Blurs Lines of Separation

Summary

"Sisters" is the Marsha A. Jackson-penned play that tells the poignant story of the relationship between two African-American women-Cassie and Olivia-who grew up with different lives but work in the same building and learn about one another and themselves during a freak power failure in Georgia on New Year's Eve.

"Cassie accepts her plight in life in taking care of her son and grandmother," [Brenda Marks] explains. "She doesn't have a lot of education, but she has a lot of wisdom through her life experiences. She's taken those life experiences and is trying to give her son the best life she can."

"Olivia has a lot of education and letters behind her name but she has limited life experiences and she clings to her education," says El. "She appears powerful on the outside, but her inner self is weak."
