Summary


Since there will be no WAMO to listen to in the car, there has got to be some opportunity for guerrilla marketing of self-produced CDs by local musicians, right out of the back of their cars. Enterprising folk should figure a way to market information to the community, to bring that voice of what's happening directly to the people. The Internet offers an opportunity to put together an Internet radio station and stream live music or podcasts for a tiny fraction of what it would cost for an AM or FM station. There is also an opportunity for the community to try to put a nonprofit radio station together. There are examples all over the country. National Public Radio might even be a resource. I'm sure there are other opportunities that the void left by the disappearance of WAMO presents, including cable television's free community broadcasting. As creative as Black folk continue to be, this is the time to have at it!
