Starting Early: 'Kidpreneur' On a Mission

Summary

Grateful for his family's support, [Brown] views X & Z's Twisted Pens as a family business. He explained that the letters in the name represent himself and his 18-month-old brother, Zion, who assists him when making the pens. He says his mother and family friend Juan Conner provide all types of support and his grandmother and Zion's godparents are always around to help. "Even my grandmother in Philly sells pens by placing orders for her church," he says.

His mother, Simone Godson; says she is glad her son understands the significance of being an entrepreneur. "I'm trying to establish a mindset of independence while showing him alternative ways to make money and to be flexible in his thoughts," she said. "The business is well worth the investment, it's showing him endless possibilities while creating self-sufficiency and responsibility."

Viewing X & Z's Twisted Pens as a good venture for her sons, Godson says this is a way to keep Xavier away from the negative. "He is serving as a role model to his peers and making a difference."
