Steelers Slide From Elite, Critical Games Ahead

Summary

The Broncos jumped on the Steelers early with a very balanced attack but mostly through the air with young quarterback Jay Cutler. After the Steelers scored the first touchdown of the game on their first possession, the Broncos took control of the game, rolling to a 21-7 first half lead. It proved to be too much for the Steelers to overcome despite their dominance in the second half which led to a 28-28 tie. The defense couldn't hold the Broncos as they drove down the field with minutes left to kick the winning field goal.

TRIBUTE-A tearful Judy Nash, left, looks on during a tribute to her husband, former Denver Broncos running back Damian Nash and cornerback Darrent Williams. Rosiland Williams, Darrent's mother, hugs Domonique Foxworth, right. The night began with a ceremony to honor Williams and Nash, two 24-year-old Broncos who died last winter. Williams was killed in an unsolved drive-by shooting in downtown Denver on New Year's Day and Nash died two months later after a charity basketball game in St. Louis.

SPLITTING THE UPRIGHTS-Denver Broncos kicker Jason Elam (1) watches with Steeler special teams players Ike Taylor (24), Troy Polamalu (43) and Broncos special teams player Chad Mustard as Elam's kick sails through the uprights for the winning score in the fourth quarter of the Broncos' 31 -28 victory.
