"The blues is a tone that puts me in contact with a lot of things, culturally, spiritually, cosmically," he said. "I really enjoy it, and I'm not going to let it go, because it's that good."

The weekend festival kicks off at it now familiar Hartwood Acres location with the "Free Friday Mardi Gras Night." Naturally, the show is anchored by New Orleans veteran guitarist Tab Benoit and also features the accordion "anarchy" of Lil' Brian & the Zydeco Travelers. The opening night show, which kicks off at 4:30 p.m. also includes The Sweaty Betty Blues Band and Blue Lunch The Saturday and Sunday shows begin at 1:30 p.m.
